Ice Stuck, Clumped or Not Dispensing
Ice that has melted and refrozen into a solid mass is not a fault. It is what happens when nugget ice sits in an unrefrigerated bin, and here is how to stop it.
Why nugget ice is especially prone to it
Nugget ice is compressed flakes with air trapped between them, so it has enormous surface area and melts fast. Fast melting in a bin means a lot of surface water, and surface water between pellets is exactly what freezes them into a mass when the next cold pellet arrives.

Clearing a jam safely
1. Unplug the machine

Self-dispensing machines specifically
A dispensing machine adds a chute, and a chute adds a place for ice to bridge. When pellets fuse across the opening, nothing falls through however much ice is sitting above it.
The clearing procedure is the same: unplug, clear the bridge with something non-metal, do not force the mechanism. The prevention is also the same, and it matters slightly more here because a bridge stops delivery completely rather than just making scooping awkward.
